Taking The Carousel Widget For A Spin

It seams as every time I decide to login into my Amazon Associate account, I find the new widget. It is not going to be an overstatement to say that Amazon Associate program is doing some amazing things to give their affiliates an upper hand when it comes to promoting Amazon’s products.

The Carousel Widget was introduced on April 11 and if you have not yet done so, I encourage you to take a closer look at this widget. See example below:

This widget embeds nicely inside the WordPress posts as well as in the template or plain html page. While my example above is some what out off place, if you discount the fact that I am an Apple fan, you can find some creative ways to use this widget on variety of websites. Let say you have “recipe blog”. You can use this widget to display your favorite cook books or even kitchen gear and equipment. Just take a look at my wifes latest online adventure- Tip 32. Since we are married I have seen her baking hundreds of cakes and the race car cake is just the latest cake she made for our 7 years old nephew. On the website you will see that she used the Carousel Widget to showcase the products and equipment she used to make the cake. This is just one example of how the widget can be used.

I always had a grudge towards Amazon Associate program over the 24 hour cookie. However there is hardly any other affiliate program out there that can match Amazon when it comes to innovation. Anyway, try the widget for yourself and see if you like it. I think this is one of the best widgets Amazon had recently come up with.

    Very cool analysis… It's a huge widget and that's been my beef with it. not sure where to really put it. But I think I have an idea that I'm going to test out.

    TrishaLyn,

    I also wish the widget had more configuration option. I believe the smallest
    size is 400×150 but there is a choice of other “tower” sizes for this
    widget, maybe those can work for you.

    Thanks for stopping by.

    TrishaLyn,

    I am not sure if you still follow this, but I was wondering if you have had a chance to give the carousel widget a try.

    I think it takes very long time to load and it's hard to navigate from the page it is on. I wonder if you had anything similar happen.

    I was going to but with the feed problem of my website I need to export all my posts, reinstall wordpress, and re-import them. So I was planning on testing it out in a post but haven't yet. Thanks for the info… I'll keep you updated to my experience once I use it.

    The example doesn’t seem to be working now. I found your site looking to wordpress themes that support the amazon carousel widget – would love to know more.

    @Helpfulgal

    I am not so thrilled about this widget anymore. It still works for me. You have to be careful though when placing this widget in your posts or pages using WYSIWYG editor because it can screw up the code. Make sure you are in HTML editor mode when inserting this widget in your posts and pages.
