Thanks for stopping by. I think that in some cases paid comments can be 100% legit. However if the authors name reads "Best Cell Phone Deals" the comments better be darn good for me not to delete them.

Anyone who does this is putting their brand at risk.

I also think that it is the responsibility of the spamee blogger to exercise editorial control by disapproving or nofollowing such comments. But what if the comment actually makes a good previously unmade point and contributes to the value of the blog? It will probably remain.

I agree with you on this. I think purchasing links is a very bad idea. I think google is cracking down on this as well.

Good points Rob. The sad thing about this is that guy is specifically targeting “dofollow” blogs, while he himself gives a finger (via “nofollow”) to all who comments on his blog.
