Squidoo and Affiliate Marketing
Few months ago I have asked a question if it is possible to make money with Squidoo. Around that time I have created few lenses, but have completely forgotten about them until today when I came across Jamie Birch’s article about Squidoo at Revenews.
Creating my first lens was not aimed at making money with Squidoo, rather it was an attempt to get extra incoming link to my website or two. I quickly noticed that the lenses I have created ranked much higher for the same keywords in the Google than my own websites. I have to admit, I have not become addicted to Squidoo, but when I logged in today I was presently surprised to learn that my lenses has earned me $1.70! I also noticed that one of my lenses has already achieved PR 3 in Google, those achieving my goal of getting an incoming link.
But as Jamie points out in his article, it is very important to create a lens “worth reading” which of course is true about all your websites.
Here is how Jamie summarizes the benefits of using Squidoo in affiliate marketing:
- To drive traffic. Creating a lens on your topic with outbound links to your site can help you get traffic to your main portal. And hey, how doesn’t need another traffic source.
- To establish yourself as an expert. Are your marketing in a niche? A lens on your niche that showcases all your knowledge and links to your site(s) can help propel you as an expert in your field.
- Earn money straight from your lens. There are a myriad of ways to earn money directly from your lens. There are even tutorials on how to do this.
- Inbound links. Are you constantly on the hunt for links to your site. Here you can give yourself a few.
- Well, because it is fun dangit. It took me a while to really understand what a lens was and why I would have one. But once I started building my own, it became addictive, it’s just fun.

I need to get my squidoo lenses in order. I have a ton registered, but haven't figured out how to monetize them. Can you share some of those tutorials?

I am not aware of any specific tutorials beyond FAQ on Squidoo, but I found this profit lens, it has some YouTube videos. Hope this will help.

The one positive that I forgot to mention you picked up on, search engine rankings. I think overtime the SE's will make each lens stand on its own, but right now the Squidoo domain is pretty strong on its own.
