Subdomains for Multiligual Blogs

I was trying to post this question over at SEO Community on BumpZee, but I believe it has gone unnoticed.

I am contemplating to blog in other languages and after looking how it is done by other blogger, I have noticed that many dedicate a subdomain for that purpose:

http://espanol.business-opportunities.biz/

I personally see no benefit of placing multilingual blogs in subdomains, but since such well known bloggers do use subdomains for such purpose, it is most likely I am missing something. I really would love to hear from SEO Experts at BumpZee on this one. Are there any SEO advantages to dedicate a subdomain (per language) if one decides to blog in more than two languages?

Actually, I talked to someone in one of my niche markets in which this strategy worked out okay for him….However, the language that he translated was chinese and malay. Personally, I am not sure if it is worth the work that it would take to go into it but then again, if you get 50 new daily readers out of this, then it does have potential
