800 Number On Merchant Site: Help or Deterrence?

If you did not have a chance to sign up for the free videos from Affiliate Summit 2007 East, I highly recommend doing so. In particular if you have missed the Summit and/or are new to the Affiliate Marketing. I personally appreciate to have access to these videos, in a way it is like being there- just a month later and a few good parties shorter.

While I was watching the videos, I wrote some points for myself and will be writing about those here and there mostly for my own enjoyment (mostly this will help me to remember what I have learned). But if you find these things of value or completely disagree please voice your opinion in the comments.

telephone.jpgSo my first note was about 800 numbers, or any kind of support phone number on the merchant’s website. Rosalind Gardner had raised very interesting question during session called “What do super affiliates want?” in regard to 800 numbers on the merchant’s website. Those numbers in some cases may “stand on the way” of your potential earnings. When, for example, a customer decides to call the merchant and instead of placing the order online does it over the phone. However the can bring a peace of mind to customer who just “needs” to know that he can call if he encounters a problem.

When I shop with a merchant I never shopped before, I do pay attention whether there is a ready help available should I run into problems during the purchase. I have to admit that seeing 800 numbers gives me a peace of mind.

What do you think about 800 numbers on the merchant’s website? Do you think they help? Or you think you might be loosing commissions because of them?

Getting Back On Track With Hittail

One of the biggest downsides of any major update or redesign is that in the process you may miss some important elements of your website. During the most recent update I’ve missed to place the Hittial’s tracking code in the new theme for this blog. What an upsetting mistake!

Hittail is one of those services that is a must for an internet marketer. If you never Hittail in the past here are few reasons you should give this service try:

  • Hittail helps you to determine the “long tale keywords”.
  • Hittail offers suggestion on which long tale keyword you should concentrate
  • If you are blogger and sometimes feel like you have nothing to write about- I guarantee you will never feel like that again once you tried Hittial.

iPhone Battery and Hacks

Evidently it will not be an easy task to change the iPhone battery:

Affilistore Is Now Available For Free

I have been using Affilistore to build some of my affiliate websites using datafeeds. I really liked the product for the beginning and was contemplating on purchasing the the full version at the time for £49.00. A friends and a fellow blogger (Jon over at SuccessPart2.com) have alerted me that the product is now available for free, and the developer is only asking for a donation from those who liked the script.

One of the reason that I was considering full version of Affilistore was that it offered an option to use multiple datafeeds.

I highly recommend to get this product if your will be using datafeeds to build your websites.

StumbleUpon Traffic

The more I use StumbleUpon the more I like it. Even before the time I was kicked out by Digg, I had a feeling that StumbleUpon can deliver substantial amount of traffic, better than Digg. Unfortunately only with one of my posts receiving over 10 diggs I did not have good data to compare the two. So to my delight Darren Rowes just recently wrote a post where he shared some detailed statistics about StumbleUpon vs Digg traffic- confirming my long held belief about StumbleUpon traffic .

I have noticed that the more fans I was gaining the stronger traffic I could send to the posts I “stumbled”. As of today I have only 43 fans over at StumbleUpon. I understand that the traffic from StumbleUpon should be credited to my friends. Never the less I did noticed that even on the occasions when I was the only “stumbler”, I would receive 200+ visitors within one hour.

Interesting thing about StumbleUpon traffic that as it continues, it comes what I would call in waves of traffic. Some times the second wave of traffic can bring you more traffic than initial “stumble”. The statistics I have are insignificant to those offered by Darren, go and read what the big gun is saying about StumbleUpon traffic.
