PRWeb In Plain English

PRWeb has been and is one of the best methods of promoting my business. I just found this video that explains it in “plain English” what PRWeb is all about:

PRWeb: AJAX-based Interface and Other Bells And Whistles

If it has been a while since you logged into your PRWeb account no is a good time. PRWeb made some major enhancements in the user interface. According to a most recent press release PRWeb’s platform now includes:

  • Enhanced Search – PRWeb’s search algorithm and interface now index a broad range of PRWeb content including images, trackbacks and podcasts, allowing readers to easily locate all PRWeb content. Additionally, users can generate an RSS feed based on their results, creating a live search for the same criteria in their viewer and website.
  • Improved News Content Management – PRWeb will now provide users with a file management system to store all their multimedia content in one centralized location. Incorporating an AJAX-based interface, users can easily drag-and-drop news images and file attachments into their releases.
  • News ImageAdded Social Media Capabilities – PRWeb’s BlogThis, a tool to help bloggers write about PRWeb news, will now incorporate PRWeb Feature Videos, allowing bloggers to include these videos in their post with the click of a mouse. Additionally, BlogThis will now be made available to any blogger who visits the PRWeb news releases.

PRWeb Imrpoves “Blog This”

If you like PRWeb trackbacks, chances are you may have also tried PRWeb’s Blog This. “Blog This” is a feature that allows bloggers to write about press releases without leaving PRWeb’s website and without login into your blog. The feature has sparked my curiosity in the past, but I stopped using it due to one flaw.

Using the interface provided by PRWeb to post on your blog, it was not possible to assign your posts to a desired category. What that meant in practice was that you would still have to login into your blog in order to “tag” your post properly.

Today I was working on few things in my PRWeb account and decided to check out the feature again. I was pleasantly surprised to see that PRWeb now pulls in the categories from your blog so you can tag your post accordingly:

New Feature At PRWeb: Feature Video

News ImageIt was only the matter of time. PRWeb is offering now an option to include a video along with your press release.

YouTube, Google Video and Yahoo Video, are widely used in marketing efforts across the Internet today. It was natural for PRWeb to begin to offer this option to advertisers.

In a press release announcing the new feature, PRWeb shows how a video can be used in a press release. The service is included in PRWeb’s Media Visibility package .

I am personally surprised that it took this long for PRWeb to introduce this feature.

From a blogger point of view and some one who writes quite frequently about news using PRWeb as one of the sources, I would like to see this new feature to be incorporated in Blog This- a feature that allows bloggers to write about PRWeb news without needing to be logged into their ow blogs. At the present only images associated with a press release can be embedded via Blog This feature.

Ongoing: PRWeb Trackbacks

Since being introduced to PRWeb trackbacks, I have been referencing quiet often press releases on this and my other blogs. While you may not receive a trackback from every single press release I have been complying a list of PRWeb Authors, from who’s releases I have received trackacks either immediately in cases when the author of a press release choses give trackbacks automatically, or those authors who have given me trackbacks few days after referencing thier press releases.

Please remember that the authors of press releases at PRWeb can decide on how trackbacks are approved and this can change from one press release to another.

So here is my list:

  1. Kathy Sheehan, PRWeb- the Online Visibility Company. Kathy takes care of all the exciting news on PRWeb and her press releases seem to be giving trackbacks to bloggers automatically. I have referenced several of her press releases on this blog. Take a look the following press release about PRWeb Easy Submit (a PR 6 page)- there is a trackback to my blog.
  2. Angela Mithell writes press releases on behalf of Yugster. There is currently only one press release by Angela, but that was one the first press releases that I have attempted to receive a trackback. Trackback was given automatically.
  3. Ken McGaffin writes press releases on behalf of of Wordtracker. The trackback was given automatically.
  4. Erica Forrette writes press releases on behalf of Adapt Technologies. I have referenced only one out of four press releases by Erica. The press release I have referenced was not enabled to automatically approve tracebacks, but after chatting with Erica I asked to to approve the trackback from the following press release.
  5. David Meerman Scott, some of his press releases give trakcbacks automatically.
  6. Randy Zlobec writes press releases on behalf of The Hoffman Group. If you blog about real estate (in particular about Myrtle Beach Real Estae)- tracebacks approved by the author of press release.
  7. Peter Ejtel writes press releases on behalf of SharedReviews.com, trackbacks are given automatically.
  8. Last but not least yours truly. I use PRWeb to give an extra push to my Web Hosting Review Blog. While I approve all trackbacks manually, I discriminate only against “splogs” and “shady websites”, if you have a blog and would like to receive a trackback from following press release, just reference this press release on you blog by linking to it- a web hosting related website or blog a BIG PLUS. Make sure that your post’s pingbacks are enabled. I generally check the statistics of my press releases once a day and your track back should appear within 24 hours of posting on your blog- if this does not happen do not hesitate to contact me.

The reason I have decided to compile a list of PRWeb Authors who gave me trackbacks in the past is that I will keep an eye on their future press releases and are very likely to write about their products again in the future. Are you a using PRWeb? If so, I highly recommend to use the power of trackbacks to generate an extra buzz in the blogosphere about your company and its products! And please stop by later to let me and my readers know that you have enabled trackbacks in your press releases.
