Use Google Analytics To Measure The Value Of RSS Subscriptions
September 12, 2007 – 9:01 amI just came across the article by Shoemoney where he explains how you can measure the value of RSS subscriber(s) via Google Analytics.
It’s a must read article if your budget for promotig your blog. It is interesting that Jeremy mentions that he gets only 3% of traffic from the search engines:
…keep in mind that this site gets less then 3% of its visitors from search engines. So my valuation for RSS subscribers is probably a little higher then someone who 50% of there traffic is from search engines.
So if you want to track these numbers you may need to adjust your number accordingly.

Nice Topic. One of the most important measures of success for a blog is the number of RSS subscribers. We all know that you need to network with other blogs to increase awareness and potentially build up your readership. FeedBurner is an excellent service, but the stats are focused primarily on the type of feed reader your visitors are using. That might be important, it can’t help your marketing efforts. While Google Analytics lets you track downloads, external URLs, and can be used to track RSS feed subscriptions. I think Google Analytics works the best for marketing.

I do not spend much on promoting this blog in particular either. But I think the stats proposed by Jeremy can be very useful if I decide to spend some money on advertising let say two or tree months from now.
