WordPress, FeedBurner, SmartUpdate Pinger and Technorati.

September 7th, 2006 by Vlad | Filed under Other (Fom Old Blog).

Recently I have noticed that Technorati stopped updating my posts. The delay is about two days. If you are using WordPress, you may run into the same problem. Today I have submitted a support ticket to Technorati about the problem, but before I checked to see if there might have been a problem on my end.

I have been using SmartUpdate Pinger plugin to notify services about new content on my site. But long time ago I also signed up for FeedBurner. FeedBurner has an option called “Ping Shot” which I have activated when I signed up for their services. So what I think might have happened is that FeedBurner as well as my site were sending two pings to Technorati when I was posting on my site. Today I have disabled the “PingShot” at FeedBurner and submitted a support ticket to Technorati about the problem.
