In the middle of December there was an article at the Official Google Webmaster Blog on Building Link-Based Popularity.
According to the article it is clear that Google acknowledges two basic ways of increasing website’s link-based popularity:
-
Long term option of developing natural links.
-
Short term option via link spamming tactics as buying links.
Many bloggers today relying on websites like Text-Link-Ads(aff) to increase their revenue stream. As Google has modified it’s link-weighting algorithms, purchased links will of course decrease in value.
What is your take on the future of Text-Link-Ads?
Well I wish I would have written it down verbatim, but I heard Adam Lasnik of Google say to a large group at SES in Chicago, that sites that are buying links are not getting their money's worth. That's a pretty powerful comment.

Hi Arnie,
Thanks for comment. I think no one will ever be able to figure out Google and their algorythms. After I have written this post, I noticed that Bogger is now compatible with Text Link Ads. Now this is interesting since Blogger is owned by Goole.

TLA and similar services are destined to die soon as Google is coming down hard on paid links. Google keeps getting better and better in identifying paid links so not sure how long TLAs would work.
