It was very amusing to discover Blingo today. Blingo is a “Google-powered search engine with twist”. Internet users using this search engine can win a sweepstake in a form of an Amazon certificate, a car or just simple old cash. How can you win? Just go ahead and search the Internet the way you would search regularly on Google or Yahoo. That simple isn’t it?
Blingo does not seam to be modified in any way and produces results identical to those found in Google. According to Alexa rank, the site is getting nice traffic, maybe due to referrals. If you refer a friend and and he or she wins a prize they give you a matching prize that is exactly the same as your referral’s, this does not work in reverse. Only first 10 searches for a particular day qualify for a prize.
The next prize of $20,000 (with a matching prize of $20,000) due to expire on June 30. It is not clear if anyone can win the prize tomorrow, but I think it is safe to presume that if no one wins bu June 29 their website will get loads of traffic! Over the period of last few months Blingo gave away some good money.
So how does Blingo do it? I have have an idea but I would like to hear from you, what do you think?
