To be completely honest, I have gotten some what confused today after receiving an e-mail from Google Affiliate Network. A network I did not remember to have ever joined. But of course I have forgotten that Google bought DoubleClick more than a year ago.
It does feel a little strange, especially for those of us who have been banned from AdSense.
I login to my Performics account almost daily, and have not noticed any change there as far as re-branding goes. It will be interesting to see if Google will start messing “innovating” with Performics platform. I can hardly see this as a launch of a new affiliate network.
I hadn't used Performics in a while and went to update my account info after I received the Google Affiliate Network email. You can update everything except the important stuff: your main addrfess and contact info AND your bank info. They give you a phone number to call for that. OK, that's probably more secure.
So I called. I got a long message about all the info I must have ready and then give them on their voice mail and then a beep — like wait a minute, I'm nowhere near ready with my Fed ID etc. So I called back to listen to the message again (there was no prompt to repeat it while listening) and at the end there was a beep and just as I was about to recite the litany of facts about my account (old account info, new account info, etc.), a new message came on saying that the message box was full and CLICK.
I wonder how long it's gonna take Google to sort out this acquisition?
I don't see any major changes yet. Interface looks a bit different but that's about it. We'll see, maybe there are a few surprises ahead of us.
