Ever since discovering Disqus, I have been keeping an eye on their product. For some periods of time I have used their commenting system across my blogs – yet for some reason or another would revert to WordPress‘ default commenting system or try other services like Intense Debate. I have more than few complains about the speed of their plugin – one of the main reasons I would stop using it.
But things at Disqus have changed. Not only they gained a powerful ally in Andy Beard, whose opinion is respected and valued by the thousands in the blogging community, they have also dramatically improved their product from the time I last tested it.
If you are dissatisfied with the you current commenting system on your blog, here are my two cents on why you should seriously consider using Disqus on your blog.
- Disqus allows your readers to comment using their Facebook & Twitter Credentials.
- Disqus allows you to reply to comments via e-mail.
- Disqus allows you to manage multiple blogs from one account.
- Disqus integrates well into Blogger.com powered blogs. If you share my sentiment, you probably do not comment often on Blogger- their native comment system needs some major overhaul. Using the Disqus on blogger can probably increase users interaction via comments.
- Finally Disqus folks at Diqus are really paying attention to what other people are saying about their services. They also seem to be implementing things gathered from the feedback from users.
In the past I often questioned using a third party commenting system. Now I am becoming more and more convinced that Disqus is actually one of the very few systems capable of providing real value to it’s users.
I just need to work out how to get dofollow working with it, but interesting seeing the change in rankings temporarily.
I am not using their javascript implementation currently
It was my understanding that he current version of the plugin shows the
comments via javascript? I know in the past versions of the plugin Scott
Jangro hacked it to remove nofollow.
I think it would be better solution if they would offer the use “dofollows”
from the “community pages” but that will requier a lot of convincing and
then vigilance on the part of individual bloggers if they choose to not use
“nofollows”.
Hope you can write about ranking changes as I do not see any difference with
any of my blogs.
Excellent blog, thanks for the share. I'll be a regular viewer
I do hope this is not the last post you ever make, most of all I sincerely
hope this is not an automated comment or it may be marked as spam.
We have nofollow set everywhere because, from our limited wisdom on search engines, it seems to assist the site, without a mess of arbitrary links sapping the weight of their ranking.
I haven't seen otherwise yet, but we're flexible enough to be convinced there should be a choice at some point.
Looks like spam to me, plus with Disqus you can't delete the link, so you have to delete the comment
It most certainly is…. I got a round of comments just like the one above on all my blogs listed with Disqus.
It is something I can probably fix by tinkering with WordPress filter priorities on existing plugins.
At this time I don't want to add it to the list of things which really need fixing, per my support tickets.
What is it costing us to keep it and why should we “covet” it.
Still some English Imperialistic attitudes remain.
It does seem that they listen to their users and incorporate the feedback into the design with each release. Disqus makes it painlessly easy to comment, and does a good job at blocking spam.
I really like the new features that come along with DISQUS. Specially, the idea of Video commenting is simply amazing.

I believe that the video commenting was an option since the time Seesmic invested in Disqus. I don't think it is one of the newest features.
Excellent site,Thanks for this great post – I will be sure to check out your blog more often.Just subscriped to your RSS feed..Home Insurance Reviews

Disqus really attracts! I am the live example, I was not keen to sign up, a good friend Robert made me sign up here, since then i am just loving it.
