Since I bought my camcorder, I have been looking into purchasing few .tv domains. Even thought these domains are not cheap, actually it looks like they are among most expensive ones, there is very good chance to find a “keyword rich” domain name. There is of course one downside. Registering a .tv domain kind of indicates that you will be producing video casting on a regular basis. I have bought a few domains (via GoDaddy) with .tv extension either for the future use or maybe I can “flip” them at some point in the future.
There however very few web-hosting providers that allow you to register a .tv domain. It is hard to tell why more of the web-hosting providers do not offer this opportunity. Can it be that demand for .tv domains is low? I found that GoDaddy offers the best price without having to purchase a web-hosting plan. On my Web Hosting Review Blog I have posted a few providers that you can register a .tv domains with, some of them require to purchase a web hosting plan if you purchase the domain. If you are aware of other web hosting providers that offer .tv domains, please let me know.
Makes sense – nobody wants them, and they're expensive, so few are sold. The problem with any non domain that isn't .com, there's a real danger of telling people your domain and them just remembering the “name” part, and ending up at someone elses site!

Do you mean many registrars don't offer .tv domains, or was that not a mistake in that some hosting companies don't allow .tv domains to be hosted with them? If it's the latter, that's pretty crazy. If you pay your hosting fees, they shouldn't say anything about it. Unless maybe they think since it's a .tv it will be draining their bandwidth?
I honestly can't think of one popular .tv domain but with the way social media and video marketing is going, it wouldn't surprise me at all if .tv domains start getting much more popular in the very near future.

Josh,
From what I understand any provider, or just about any provider will host a .tv domain, however only few web hosting providers are offering these domains. I am not sure if these domains will retain the value (i bought mine at $39 a piece). Again as the extension suggests this domain should be used for video blogging, and if people go on abusing the extension purely as an opportunity to grab some catchy and keywords rich domains it may turn out to be another .info.
