Paid reviews can be quiet controversial due to the hype they may create. But if you would like to learn how to do it well and with great degree of professionalism I highly recommend reading Andy Beard’s article, a great example of paid review. Elsewhere on his blog he offers few but very important points to consider before accepting a paid review:
-
Will your opinion be affected by the fact that you will be paid for writing a review?
-
Are you unbiased toward the product or service you are about to review?
-
If you are offering a criticism is it a “constructive criticism”?
While any one can come up with the points above, it is not so easy to put them into practice. If you look through the reviews that Andy wrote in the past, you can agree that he knows what he is talking about. To write this kind of review one needs to put in hours of research plus the time for compiling the review.
Indeed. Majority of bloggers however write half-assed reviews. It's one thing if the review is not sufficiently researched and another when it's written purely for the money (those 100 words and lesser sort)

Hi Leonard,
Sorry I did not notice your post. Was bussy checking out all the cool BumpZee updates lol.
Andy for sure sets a bar when it comes to paid reviews. I honestly can' believe anyone can write 200 words review and say something informative and constructive, besides saying “hey! check out this great site!!!”
Hey Vlad – Been a while since I had a chance to stop by. Hope all is well.
I think this post is especially relavant to me right now. Thanks for putting it up. I am starting to get a few folks who are reading my stuff more frequently and I have already had a couple of offers to review things.
It is a fine line, between having your opinion bought and keeping your ethics about you…
As always, keep up the good work!
Mark,
Thanks for stopping by. Last time I was at your blog there was still the Math plugin glitch so I could not comment I will be heading your way after posting this.
I do not have that many requests but if I ever do I will for sure look for ideas at Andy's blog. Good luck with your reviews.
