Do I have one? Maybe. I never thought of writing it down, but good opportunity came along with Ben Yoskovitz meme on productivity secrets. And since I have been tagged by Deborah Petersen, after she wrote a Guide to Productivity for Adult ADD Sufferers, I will start off my guide by writing about things I do to manage my own ADD moments.
- Taking time off helps me to put under control ADD moments. I am not sure I even believe in ADD as diagnosis (but this is completely separate issue). Nevertheless I think we all have gone through a kind of ADD moments in our life, which in my opinion are the most counter-productive. Looking for your glasses for an hour just to look in the mirror and realize you are wearing them, or trying to find that pencil you used to write down few thoughts just to find out an hour later you have stacked it behind your ear. I find out that taking time off helps me greatly to cope with these moments.
- Finding Positive Aspects In Your Own Failure. This is one of the hardest things for me personally. Failing at one particular thing does not necessarily mean you have failed in general. Did you know that Babe Ruth in his career struck out 1,360 times? Yet he is remembered for hitting 714 home runs. If he said to himself after striking out for 500th time “this sport is not for me” America would never had the greatest baseball player who’s record would hold for nearly 39 years. Don’t let a failure overwhelm you. Don’t give up! Success without failure isn’t really a success.
- Prioritize Prioritize Prioritize. Waking up in the morning is the best time for me to set up some priorities on variety of things. Unfortunately it is to late to do so after I open my mail box or Google Feedreader.
- Live And Love Like There Is No Tomorrow. Thinking of my own mortality albeit at 32, helps greatly in step #3. The truth is there is one thing that no one has ever managed or ever will manage to escape- death. One day all that will be left is of memory of me. How will people remember me? There is nothing in the world I would love to achieve more than being remembered by those who will survive me as some one who lived his life to the fullest, who loved his family and friends to the point of being ready to give his own life for them.
So this is my ultimate guide to productivity. What about you? I really am supposed to tag other people for this meme, but from participating in memes in the past I always find that people whom I tag have been tagged already. So if this post have inspired you in some way consider yourself tagged. Just let me know so I can place a link to you your post.
Since writing this post there were 77 bloggers taking part in this meme. I believe this should be compiled into a book (after some one corrects my grammar). Anyway, every single post is worth reading :

Well said Vlad.
Many successful enterpreneurs have a history of failures for which they've learned from.
Failures help us to learn and grow, so they aren't actually failures when we have learned from the experience.

Thanks Deborah.
I think with that comes along the fact that we might over criticize our own and other peoples failure, and some time grossly overlook their/our achievements.

Number 3 definitely resonates with me. It is quite fascinating exactly how much a simple prioritized list can boost productivity. Although I like to do mine in the evening before bed.
And yet it is so tempting to wake up and just get a quick forum/blog/email fix 🙂 Ah the struggle against innate laziness…

Hi Vlad,
Greetings from Istanbul, a city where east meets west. Having said that, i hate generalizing but people in the eastern part of the world mostly live a more spiritual life than the western. A few years ago i read a book called “to be or to have” written by Erich Fromm, a German psychologist. I support “to be” side, and i feel that when you have so many things in your life, it means you have so many things to lose. If you have a minimalist mindset and then prioritize your life i am sure this will give you better satisfaction.
I am at 32, too. And i believe that one day scientists and doctors will find a solution to death 🙂
Have a nice day and please don't forget to link to my blog.
