I was looking forward to the changes at ReveNews, but I am becoming increasingly disappointed with the changes. Do not misunderstand me, I love the new design and Sam deserves the credit for overseeing these changes. I do however question the decision of going with Movable Type instead of WordPress. I am sure there were valid reasons for making such a move.
But as I see it, majority of bloggers (Sam correct me if I am wrong) that write for the ReveNews use WordPress as their publishing platforms on their personal websites.
The reason I am questioning the decision is that today after watching Jim Kukral’s video post about BestBuy, I was neither able to post a comment on that post nor was I able to grab the video and embed it on my blog. Granted, it may not be MovableType’s fault that I was not able to grab the video. But after watching Jim’s video I had all intention to write a comment and share from my own similar experiences, but instead I am writing this post.
Away, that is enough ranting for today. Jim, I still would like to response to your video post, but I can’t because it looks like comments on that post are disabled. Also, if you can put that video on YouTube, I will be happy to share it with my readers.
There's some bugs in the system I'm told. Sam is trying to figure out why my post won't let comments. They are on it.
Hey Vlad-
i'm typing this on my mobile on the way to CJU, so excuse any typos.
basically, the decision to stick with movable type over wordpress came down to the group nature of the site. As a stand alone platform, wordpress kicks mt's butt. In a group blog setting, mt is much better for the bloggers and admin. We havent finished installing all the new plugins, but im confident that once the site is completely “finished” by the end of the month, it will have all of the functonality you reference above. See the new boingboing.net site for an example. MT 4 is very powerful, so give us some time to get RN finalized and i assure you that you'll be happy!

Thanks Jim and Sam,
Great damage control! 🙂
I have read many good things on MT. It's just that Jim's post very timely to me personally and I was a little disappointed that I could not write about it on ReveNews. But maybe it will turn out to be better thing after all.
Look forward to the fixes.
Not really damage control… The new ReveNews is less than a week old, so its more of a plea for patience. Group blogs are never easy platforms to create or recreate, and there are bound to be bugs in the first few days. We'll get them worked out right away, though. The hard part of getting onto the new platform is done.

@Sam,
I am not sure if it is exclusive agreement with Fliqz- but there is nothing wrong to let people grab the code for the video. Why not to use YouTube or Blip or any other media that will allow for sharing videos on other websites?

I put the video here if you want to grab it.

@Jim,
Thanks! Just wrote a post about your video+my own frustration. I have a merchant that did not act on my application in 2 months.
