As I was listening to and interview over disclosure policy over that Shoemoney, it reminded me that once upon a time I was planing to write a disclosure policy on few of my blogs and websites as well. While both sides have made some good points, the bottom line for me is that having a disclosure policy will not hurt me in anyway. So today after listening to the interview and reading yet again Andy’s arguments favoring disclosure policy for bloggers, I finally decided to write one.
I did not write one for my blog simply because I was lazy. I have downloaded and installed a disclosure policy plugin about three months ago. And even today just before writing this post I was debating with myself whether or not it would be easier to write this disclosure policy as a post or as a page. So since I am using the plugin, which produces a link at the end of each post to my disclosure policy, it does not really matter whether it will be a page or a post.
So here is my….
Disclosure Policy
When you are reading my blog you should know that all content written here is for my personal gain (to satisfy my ego) and for my financial gain (to satisfy my pocket). I often use affiliate links in the content of my posts without identifying them as such, for example many bloggers would follow a link with (aff). Unfortunately I think this abbreviation does not serve the purpose (aka useless) since many visitors to my blog may not know what aff stands for, and those who do can find out that I am using affiliate links even if I use redirects or otherwise cloak affiliate links. When I use affiliate links chances are that I will be rewarded financially should the link trigger an action on the part of a visitor (for example visitor buys the product or signs up for certain services).
Often I will write paid reviews on my blog, these will be always identified as such.
While my opinion may often be influenced by the above reasons or simply because I like a product or a service, you will find me criticizing certain services and products on this blog as well.
While I appreciate the trust some of you may have placed in what I write, I would advise each and every visitor to my site to research thoroughly products and services before making final purchasing decision.
